One type of page in Cloudera Manager uses a 'returnUrl' parameter to redirect the user to another page in Cloudera Manager once a wizard is completed. The validity of this parameter was not checked. As a result, the user could be automatically redirected to an attacker's external site or perform a malicious JavaScript function that results in cross-site scripting (XSS). This was fixed by not allowing any value in the returnUrl parameter with patterns such as http://, https://, //, or javascript. The only exceptions to this rule are the SAML Login/Logout URLs, which remain supported since they are explicitly configured and they are not passed via the returnUrl parameter.","severity":{"version":"3.1","score":6.1,"vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:R/S:C/C:L/I:L/A:N","level":"medium","assessor":"primary","from":"nvd"},"epss":{"day":"2026-11-08","score":0.00648,"percentile":0.51319,"model":"v2026.06.15"},"facts":{"in_kev":false,"known_exploited":false,"public_exploit":false,"fix_available":false},"cwes":["CWE-79"],"published":"2019-06-20T18:04:56Z","modified":"2026-06-17T01:43:19Z","products":[{"vendor":"cloudera","product":"cloudera_manager"}],"references":[{"url":"https://www.cloudera.com/documentation/other/security-bulletins/topics/Security-Bulletin.html#cloudera_manager","tags":["x_refsource_MISC","x_transferred","Vendor Advisory"]},{"url":"https://www.cloudera.com/documentation/other/security-bulletins/topics/Security-Bulletin.html","tags":["x_refsource_CONFIRM","x_transferred","Vendor Advisory"]},{"url":"https://nvd.nist.gov/vuln/detail/CVE-2018-15913"},{"url":"https://github.com/advisories/GHSA-5m3h-gcpg-742g"}],"sources":{"cve":[{"id":"CVE-2018-15913","description":"An issue was discovered in Cloudera Manager 5.x through 5.15.0.
