The video-core process incorrectly extracts fields from a user-controlled JSON payload, leading to a buffer overflow on the stack. The strcpy at [8] overflows the destination buffer, which has a size of 40 bytes. An attacker can send an arbitrarily long 'callbackUrl' value in order to exploit this vulnerability.","severity":{"version":"3.0","score":9.9,"vector":"CVSS:3.0/AV:N/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:C/C:H/I:H/A:H","level":"critical","assessor":"cna","from":"cve"},"epss":{"day":"2026-11-08","score":0.01534,"percentile":0.74991,"model":"v2026.06.15"},"facts":{"in_kev":false,"known_exploited":false,"public_exploit":false,"fix_available":false},"cwes":["CWE-119","CWE-787"],"published":"2018-08-23T22:00:00Z","modified":"2026-06-17T01:57:55Z","products":[{"vendor":"samsung","product":"samsung"},{"vendor":"samsung","product":"sth-eth-250_firmware"}],"references":[{"url":"https://talosintelligence.com/vulnerability_reports/TALOS-2018-0548","tags":["x_refsource_MISC","x_transferred","Exploit","Third Party Advisory"]},{"url":"https://nvd.nist.gov/vuln/detail/CVE-2018-3866"},{"url":"https://github.com/advisories/GHSA-mmxq-hfwc-p6xp"}],"sources":{"cve":[{"id":"CVE-2018-3866","description":"An exploitable buffer overflow vulnerability exists in the samsungWifiScan handler of video-core's HTTP server of Samsung SmartThings Hub STH-ETH-250 - Firmware version 0.20.17.
