All versions of hostapd and wpa_supplicant with EAP-PWD support are vulnerable. The ability to install and execute applications is necessary for a successful attack. Memory access patterns are visible in a shared cache. Weak passwords may be cracked. Versions of hostapd/wpa_supplicant 2.7 and newer, are not vulnerable to the timing attack described in CVE-2019-9494. Both hostapd with EAP-pwd support and wpa_supplicant with EAP-pwd support prior to and including version 2.7 are affected.","severity":{"version":"3.1","score":3.7,"vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:H/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:L/I:N/A:N","level":"low","assessor":"primary","from":"nvd"},"epss":{"day":"2026-11-08","score":0.03477,"percentile":0.89179,"model":"v2026.06.15"},"facts":{"in_kev":false,"known_exploited":false,"public_exploit":false,"fix_available":true},"cwes":["CWE-203","CWE-524"],"published":"2019-04-10T00:00:00Z","modified":"2026-09-21T07:03:25Z","fixes":[{"ecosystem":"Alpine:v3.10","package":"wpa_supplicant","fixed_in":["2.7-r2"],"sources":["osv"]},{"ecosystem":"Alpine:v3.11","package":"wpa_supplicant","fixed_in":["2.7-r2"],"sources":["osv"]},{"ecosystem":"Alpine:v3.12","package":"wpa_supplicant","fixed_in":["2.7-r2"],"sources":["osv"]},{"ecosystem":"Alpine:v3.13","package":"wpa_supplicant","fixed_in":["2.7-r2"],"sources":["osv"]},{"ecosystem":"Alpine:v3.14","package":"wpa_supplicant","fixed_in":["2.7-r2"],"sources":["osv"]},{"ecosystem":"Alpine:v3.15","package":"wpa_supplicant","fixed_in":["2.7-r2"],"sources":["osv"]},{"ecosystem":"Alpine:v3.16","package":"wpa_supplicant","fixed_in":["2.7-r2"],"sources":["osv"]},{"ecosystem":"Alpine:v3.17","package":"wpa_supplicant","fixed_in":["2.7-r2"],"sources":["osv"]},{"ecosystem":"Alpine:v3.18","package":"wpa_supplicant","fixed_in":["2.7-r2"],"sources":["osv"]},{"ecosystem":"Alpine:v3.19","package":"wpa_supplicant","fixed_in":["2.7-r2"],"sources":["osv"]},{"ecosystem":"Alpine:v3.20","package":"wpa_supplicant","fixed_in":["2.7-r2"],"sources":["osv"]},{"ecosystem":"Alpine:v3.21","package":"wpa_supplicant","fixed_in":["2.7-r2"],"sources":["osv"]},{"ecosystem":"Alpine:v3.22","package":"wpa_supplicant","fixed_in":["2.7-r2"],"sources":["osv"]},{"ecosystem":"Alpine:v3.23","package":"wpa_supplicant","fixed_in":["2.7-r2"],"sources":["osv"]},{"ecosystem":"Alpine:v3.24","package":"wpa_supplicant","fixed_in":["2.7-r2"],"sources":["osv"]},{"ecosystem":"Alpine:v3.9","package":"wpa_supplicant","fixed_in":["2.7-r2"],"sources":["osv"]},{"ecosystem":"Debian:12","package":"wpa","fixed_in":["2:2.7+git20190128+0c1e29f-4"],"sources":["osv"]},{"ecosystem":"Debian:13","package":"wpa","fixed_in":["2:2.7+git20190128+0c1e29f-4"],"sources":["osv"]},{"ecosystem":"Debian:14","package":"wpa","fixed_in":["2:2.7+git20190128+0c1e29f-4"],"sources":["osv"]},{"ecosystem":"Ubuntu:14.04:LTS","package":"wpa","fixed_in":["2.1-0ubuntu1.7"],"sources":["osv"]},{"ecosystem":"Ubuntu:16.04:LTS","package":"wpa","fixed_in":["2.4-0ubuntu6.4"],"sources":["osv"]},{"ecosystem":"Ubuntu:18.04:LTS","package":"wpa","fixed_in":["2:2.6-15ubuntu2.2"],"sources":["osv"]}],"affected":[{"source":"osv","ecosystem":"Alpine:v3.10","package":"wpa_supplicant","ranges":[{"type":"ECOSYSTEM","events":[{"introduced":"0"},{"fixed":"2.7-r2"}]}]},{"source":"osv","ecosystem":"Alpine:v3.11","package":"wpa_supplicant","ranges":[{"type":"ECOSYSTEM","events":[{"introduced":"0"},{"fixed":"2.7-r2"}]}]},{"source":"osv","ecosystem":"Alpine:v3.12","package":"wpa_supplicant","ranges":[{"type":"ECOSYSTEM","events":[{"introduced":"0"},{"fixed":"2.7-r2"}]}]},{"source":"osv","ecosystem":"Alpine:v3.13","package":"wpa_supplicant","ranges":[{"type":"ECOSYSTEM","events":[{"introduced":"0"},{"fixed":"2.7-r2"}]}]},{"source":"osv","ecosystem":"Alpine:v3.14","package":"wpa_supplicant","ranges":[{"type":"ECOSYSTEM","events":[{"introduced":"0"},{"fixed":"2.7-r2"}]}]},{"source":"osv","ecosystem":"Alpine:v3.15","package":"wpa_supplicant","ranges":[{"type":"ECOSYSTEM","events":[{"introduced":"0"},{"fixed":"2.7-r2"}]}]},{"source":"osv","ecosystem":"Alpine:v3.16","package":"wpa_supplicant","ranges":[{"type":"ECOSYSTEM","events":[{"introduced":"0"},{"fixed":"2.7-r2"}]}]},{"source":"osv","ecosystem":"Alpine:v3.17","package":"wpa_supplicant","ranges":[{"type":"ECOSYSTEM","events":[{"introduced":"0"},{"fixed":"2.7-r2"}]}]},{"source":"osv","ecosystem":"Alpine:v3.18","package":"wpa_supplicant","ranges":[{"type":"ECOSYSTEM","events":[{"introduced":"0"},{"fixed":"2.7-r2"}]}]},{"source":"osv","ecosystem":"Alpine:v3.19","package":"wpa_supplicant","ranges":[{"type":"ECOSYSTEM","events":[{"introduced":"0"},{"fixed":"2.7-r2"}]}]},{"source":"osv","ecosystem":"Alpine:v3.20","package":"wpa_supplicant","ranges":[{"type":"ECOSYSTEM","events":[{"introduced":"0"},{"fixed":"2.7-r2"}]}]},{"source":"osv","ecosystem":"Alpine:v3.21","package":"wpa_supplicant","ranges":[{"type":"ECOSYSTEM","events":[{"introduced":"0"},{"fixed":"2.7-r2"}]}]},{"source":"osv","ecosystem":"Alpine:v3.22","package":"wpa_supplicant","ranges":[{"type":"ECOSYSTEM","events":[{"introduced":"0"},{"fixed":"2.7-r2"}]}]},{"source":"osv","ecosystem":"Alpine:v3.23","package":"wpa_supplicant","ranges":[{"type":"ECOSYSTEM","events":[{"introduced":"0"},{"fixed":"2.7-r2"}]}]},{"source":"osv","ecosystem":"Alpine:v3.24","package":"wpa_supplicant","ranges":[{"type":"ECOSYSTEM","events":[{"introduced":"0"},{"fixed":"2.7-r2"}]}]},{"source":"osv","ecosystem":"Alpine:v3.9","package":"wpa_supplicant","ranges":[{"type":"ECOSYSTEM","events":[{"introduced":"0"
