CVE-2016-9391

The jpc_bitstream_getbits function in jpc_bs.c in JasPer before 2.0.10 allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service (assertion failure) via a very large integer.

The jasper package has been updated and patched to fix several security issues.

These are all security issues fixed in the jasper-2.0.33-1.2 package on the GA media of openSUSE Tumbleweed.

This update for jasper fixes the following issues:

It was discovered that JasPer incorrectly handled certain malformed JPEG-2000 image files. If a user or automated system using JasPer were tricked into opening a specially crafted image, an attacker could exploit this to cause a denial of service or possibly execute code with the privileges of the user invoking the program.
