CVE-2017-3732
BN_mod_exp may produce incorrect results on x86_64
There is a carry propagating bug in the x86_64 Montgomery squaring procedure in OpenSSL 1.0.2 before 1.0.2k and 1.1.0 before 1.1.0d. No EC algorithms are affected. Analysis suggests that attacks against RSA and DSA as a result of this defect would be very difficult to perform and are not believed likely. Attacks against DH are considered just feasible (although very difficult) because most of the work necessary to deduce information about a private key may be performed offline. The amount of resources required for such an attack would be very significant and likely only accessible to a limited number of attackers. An attacker would additionally need online access to an unpatched system using the target private key in a scenario with persistent DH parameters and a private key that is shared between multiple clients. For example this can occur by default in OpenSSL DHE based SSL/TLS ciphersuites. Note: This issue is very similar to CVE-2015-3193 but must be treated as a separate problem.

Updated openssl packages fix security vulnerability
There is a carry propagation bug in the Broadwell-specific Montgomery multiplication procedure that handles input lengths divisible by, but longer than 256 bits. mong EC algorithms only Brainpool P-512 curves are affected and one presumably can attack ECDH key negotiation (CVE-2016-7055).
If an SSL/TLS server or client is running on a 32-bit host, and a specific cipher is being used, then a truncated packet can cause that server or client to perform an out-of-bounds read, usually resulting in a crash. The crash can be triggered when using RC4-MD5, if it has not been disabled (CVE-2017-3731).
There is a carry propagating bug in the x86_64 Montgomery squaring procedure. An attacker would need online access to an unpatched system using the target private key in a scenario with persistent DH parameters and a private key that is shared between multiple clients (CVE-2017-3732).

Updated virtualbox packages fix security vulnerabilities
This update provides the virtualbox 5.1.30 maintenance release, fixing security and other issues:
In OpenSSL 1.1.0 before 1.1.0d, if a malicious server supplies bad parameters for a DHE or ECDHE key exchange then this can result in the client attempting to dereference a NULL pointer leading to a client crash. This could be exploited in a Denial of Service attack (CVE-2017-3730).
OpenSSL is vulnerable to a denial of service, caused by an out-of-bounds read when using a specific cipher. By sending specially crafted truncated packets, a remote attacker could exploit this vulnerability using CHACHA20/POLY1305 to cause the application to crash (CVE-2017-3731).
OpenSSL could allow a remote attacker to obtain sensitive information, caused by a propagation error in the BN_mod_exp() function. An attacker could exploit this vulnerability to obtain information about the private key (CVE-2017-3732).
During a renegotiation handshake if the Encrypt-Then-Mac extension is negotiated where it was not in the original handshake (or vice-versa) then this can cause OpenSSL 1.1.0 before 1.1.0e to crash (dependent on ciphersuite). Both clients and servers are affected (CVE-2017-3733)
A local user can exploit a flaw in the Oracle VM VirtualBox Core component to partially access data, partially modify data, and deny service (CVE-2017-10392, CVE-2017-10407, CVE-2017-10408).
A local user can exploit a flaw in the Oracle VM VirtualBox Core component to partially access data, partially modify data, and partially deny service (CVE-2017-10428).

Successful attacks of this vulnerability can result in unauthorized creation, deletion or modification access to critical data or all Java SE, Java SE Embedded accessible data (bsc#1104668).
- CVE-2018-2964: Vulnerability in subcomponent: Deployment. Difficult to exploit vulnerability allowed unauthenticated attacker with network access via multiple protocols to compromise Java SE. Successful attacks require human interaction from a person other than the attacker. Successful attacks of this vulnerability can result in takeover of Java SE. (bsc#1104668).
- CVE-2016-0705: Prevent double free in the dsa_priv_decode function that allowed remote attackers to cause a denial of service (memory corruption) or possibly have unspecified other impact via a malformed DSA private key (bsc#1104668).
- CVE-2017-3732: Prevent carry propagating bug in the x86_64 Montgomery squaring procedure (bsc#1104668).
- CVE-2017-3736: Prevent carry propagating bug in the x86_64 Montgomery squaring procedure (bsc#1104668).
- CVE-2018-12539: Users other than the process owner might have been able to use Java Attach API to connect to an IBM JVM on the same machine and use Attach API operations, which includes the ability to execute untrusted native code (bsc#1104668)
- CVE-2018-1517: Unspecified vulnerability (bsc#1104668).

openssl vulnerabilities
Guido Vranken discovered that OpenSSL used undefined behaviour when performing pointer arithmetic. A remote attacker could possibly use this issue to cause OpenSSL to crash, resulting in a denial of service. This issue only applied to Ubuntu 12.04 LTS and Ubuntu 14.04 LTS as other releases were fixed in a previous security update. (CVE-2016-2177)
It was discovered that OpenSSL did not properly handle Montgomery multiplication, resulting in incorrect results leading to transient failures. This issue only applied to Ubuntu 16.04 LTS, and Ubuntu 16.10. (CVE-2016-7055)
It was discovered that OpenSSL did not properly use constant-time operations when performing ECDSA P-256 signing. A remote attacker could possibly use this issue to perform a timing attack and recover private ECDSA keys. This issue only applied to Ubuntu 12.04 LTS and Ubuntu 14.04 LTS. (CVE-2016-7056)
Shi Lei discovered that OpenSSL incorrectly handled certain warning alerts. A remote attacker could possibly use this issue to cause OpenSSL to stop responding, resulting in a denial of service. (CVE-2016-8610)
Robert Święcki discovered that OpenSSL incorrectly handled certain truncated packets. A remote attacker could possibly use this issue to cause OpenSSL to crash, resulting in a denial of service. (CVE-2017-3731)
It was discovered that OpenSSL incorrectly performed the x86_64 Montgomery squaring procedure. While unlikely, a remote attacker could possibly use this issue to recover private keys. This issue only applied to Ubuntu 16.04 LTS, and Ubuntu 16.10. (CVE-2017-3732)
