CVE-2024-52804
Tornado has HTTP cookie parsing DoS vulnerability
Tornado is a Python web framework and asynchronous networking library. The algorithm used for parsing HTTP cookies in Tornado versions prior to 6.4.2 sometimes has quadratic complexity, leading to excessive CPU consumption when parsing maliciously-crafted cookie headers. This parsing occurs in the event loop thread and may block the processing of other requests. Version 6.4.2 fixes the issue.

python-tornado security update
Tornado is a Python web framework and asynchronous networking library, originally developed at FriendFeed. By using non-blocking network I/O, Tornado can scale to tens of thousands of open connections, making it ideal for long polling, WebSockets, and other applications that require a long-lived connection to each user.

- CVE-2025-59830: the same unbounded query parse reached through ';' separated query strings, which rack's parameter counter did not count

- CVE-2024-49761: quadratic regular expression in bundled rexml BaseParser#unnormalize; a long run of zeros in a hex character reference made the parser hang
- CVE-2024-52804: quadratic cookie unquoting in bundled tornado _unquote_cookie, which rescanned the value from each escape
- CVE-2025-47287: malformed multipart/form-data in bundled tornado logged a warning per bad part instead of rejecting the request, flooding the log
- CVE-2026-31958: unbounded part count and part header size in bundled tornado multipart parsing
