CVE-2025-39698
io_uring/futex: ensure io_futex_wait() cleans up properly on failure
CVE-2025-39698 is a high vulnerability (CVSS 7.8) in Linux, published September 5, 2025. No source lists public exploit code. EPSS puts the chance of exploitation in the next 30 days at 0.19%, the 9th percentile. Fixed in kernel 5.14.0-570.49.1.el9_6.
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
io_uring/futex: ensure io_futex_wait() cleans up properly on failure
The io_futex_data is allocated upfront and assigned to the io_kiocb async_data field, but the request isn't marked with REQ_F_ASYNC_DATA at that point. Those two should always go together, as the flag tells io_uring whether the field is valid or not.
Additionally, on failure cleanup, the futex handler frees the data but does not clear ->async_data. Clear the data and the flag in the error path as well.
Thanks to Trend Micro Zero Day Initiative and particularly ReDress for reporting this.

linux-azure vulnerabilities
It was discovered that improper initialization of CPU cache memory could allow a local attacker with hypervisor access to overwrite SEV-SNP guest memory resulting in loss of data integrity. (CVE-2024-36331)
Oleksii Oleksenko, Cedric Fournet, Jana Hofmann, Boris Köpf, Stavros Volos, and Flavien Solt discovered that some AMD processors may allow an attacker to infer data from previous stores, potentially resulting in the leakage of privileged information. A local attacker could possibly use this to expose sensitive information. (CVE-2024-36350, CVE-2024-36357)

linux-azure-6.8 vulnerabilities
Qualys discovered that several vulnerabilities existed in the AppArmor Linux kernel Security Module (LSM). An unprivileged local attacker could use these issues to load, replace, and remove arbitrary AppArmor profiles causing denial of service, exposure of sensitive information (kernel memory), local privilege escalation, or possibly escape a container. (LP: #2143853)
