CVE-2025-40322
fbdev: bitblit: bound-check glyph index in bit_putcs*
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
fbdev: bitblit: bound-check glyph index in bit_putcs*
bit_putcs_aligned()/unaligned() derived the glyph pointer from the character value masked by 0xff/0x1ff, which may exceed the actual font's glyph count and read past the end of the built-in font array. Clamp the index to the actual glyph count before computing the address.
This fixes a global out-of-bounds read reported by syzbot.

kernel security update
The Linux Kernel, the operating system core itself.
Security Fix(es):
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
ocfs2: validate l_tree_depth to avoid out-of-bounds access
The l_tree_depth field is 16-bit (__le16), but the actual maximum depth is limited to OCFS2_MAX_PATH_DEPTH.
Add a check to prevent out-of-bounds access if l_tree_depth has an invalid value, which may occur when reading from a corrupted mounted disk [1].(CVE-2025-22079)
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
mfd: ene-kb3930: Fix a potential NULL pointer dereference
The off_gpios could be NULL. Add missing check in the kb3930_probe(). This is similar to the issue fixed in commit b1ba8bcb2d1f ("backlight: hx8357: Fix potential NULL pointer dereference").
This was detected by our static analysis tool.(CVE-2025-23146)
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
jbd2: remove wrong sb->s_sequence check
Journal emptiness is not determined by sb->s_sequence == 0 but rather by sb->s_start == 0 (which is set a few lines above). Furthermore 0 is a valid transaction ID so the check can spuriously trigger. Remove the invalid WARN_ON.(CVE-2025-37839)

kernel security update
The Linux Kernel, the operating system core itself.
Security Fix(es):
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
scsi: libsas: Fix use-after-free bug in smp_execute_task_sg()
When executing SMP task failed, the smp_execute_task_sg() calls del_timer() to delete "slow_task->timer". However, if the timer handler sas_task_internal_timedout() is running, the del_timer() in smp_execute_task_sg() will not stop it and a UAF will happen. The process is shown below:
(thread 1) | (thread 2)
smp_execute_task_sg() | sas_task_internal_timedout() ... | del_timer() | ... | ... sas_free_task(task) | kfree(task->slow_task) //FREE| | task->slow_task->... //USE
Fix by calling del_timer_sync() in smp_execute_task_sg(), which makes sure the timer handler have finished before the "task->slow_task" is deallocated.(CVE-2022-50422)
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
RDMA/rxe: Fix "kernel NULL pointer dereference" error
When rxe_queue_init in the function rxe_qp_init_req fails, both qp->req.task.func and qp->req.task.arg are not initialized.
Because of creation of qp fails, the function rxe_create_qp will call rxe_qp_do_cleanup to handle allocated resource.
Before calling __rxe_do_task, both qp->req.task.func and qp->req.task.arg should be checked.(CVE-2022-50671)
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
usb: idmouse: fix an uninit-value in idmouse_open
In idmouse_create_image, if any ftip_command fails, it will go to the reset label. However, this leads to the data in bulk_in_buffer[HEADER..IMGSIZE] uninitialized. And the check for valid image incurs an uninitialized dereference.
Fix this by moving the check before reset label since this check only be valid if the data after bulk_in_buffer[HEADER] has concrete data.
Note that this is found by KMSAN, so only kernel compilation is tested.(CVE-2022-50733)

Check that the DAI widget associated with the CPU DAI is valid to prevent NULL pointer deference due to missing DAI widgets in topologies with aggregated amps.(CVE-2024-58012)
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
driver core: fix potential NULL pointer dereference in dev_uevent()
If userspace reads "uevent" device attribute at the same time as another threads unbinds the device from its driver, change to dev->driver from a valid pointer to NULL may result in crash. Fix this by using READ_ONCE() when fetching the pointer, and take bus' drivers klist lock to make sure driver instance will not disappear while we access it.
Use WRITE_ONCE() when setting the…

kernel security update
The Linux Kernel, the operating system core itself.
Security Fix(es):
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
ptr_ring: do not block hard interrupts in ptr_ring_resize_multiple()
Jakub added a lockdep_assert_no_hardirq() check in __page_pool_put_page() to increase test coverage.
syzbot found a splat caused by hard irq blocking in ptr_ring_resize_multiple() [1]
As current users of ptr_ring_resize_multiple() do not require hard irqs being masked, replace it to only block BH.
Rename helpers to better reflect they are safe against BH only.
- ptr_ring_resize_multiple() to ptr_ring_resize_multiple_bh()
- skb_array_resize_multiple() to skb_array_resize_multiple_bh()

OSVUBUNTU-CVE-2025-40322
6.9
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: fbdev: bitblit: bound-check glyph index in bit_putcs* bit_putcs_aligned()/unaligned() derived the glyph pointer from the character value masked by 0xff/0x1ff, which may exceed the actual font's glyph count and read past the end of the built-in font array. Clamp the index to the actual glyph count before computing the address. This fixes a global out-of-bounds read reported by syzbot.
