tracing: Fix WARN_ON in tracing_buffers_mmap_close for split VMAs

No scoreFix available

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:

tracing: Fix WARN_ON in tracing_buffers_mmap_close for split VMAs

When a VMA is split (e.g., by partial munmap or MAP_FIXED), the kernel calls vm_ops->close on each portion. For trace buffer mappings, this results in ring_buffer_unmap() being called multiple times while ring_buffer_map() was only called once.

This causes ring_buffer_unmap() to return -ENODEV on subsequent calls because user_mapped is already 0, triggering a WARN_ON.

Trace buffer mappings cannot support partial mappings because the ring buffer structure requires the complete buffer including the meta page.

Fix this by adding a may_split callback that returns -EINVAL to prevent VMA splits entirely.

OSVUBUNTU-CVE-2025-68329 No score

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: tracing: Fix WARN_ON in tracing_buffers_mmap_close for split VMAs When a VMA is split (e.g., by partial munmap or MAP_FIXED), the kernel calls vm_ops->close on each portion. Fix this by adding a may_split callback that returns -EINVAL to prevent VMA splits entirely.

linux, linux-aws, linux-aws-6.17, linux-gcp, linux-hwe-6.17, linux-oracle, linux-oracle-6.17 vulnerabilities

Qualys discovered that several vulnerabilities existed in the AppArmor Linux kernel Security Module (LSM). An unprivileged local attacker could use these issues to load, replace, and remove arbitrary AppArmor profiles causing denial of service, exposure of sensitive information (kernel memory), local privilege escalation, or possibly escape a container. (LP: #2143853)

It was discovered that some AMD Zen 5 processors supporting RDSEED instruction did not properly handle entropy, potentially resulting in the consumption of insufficiently random values. A local attacker could possibly use this issue to influence the values returned by the RDSEED instruction causing loss of confidentiality and integrity. (CVE-2025-62626)

linux-azure, linux-azure-6.17 vulnerabilities
