CVE-2025-71089
iommu: disable SVA when CONFIG_X86 is set
CVE-2025-71089 is a high vulnerability (CVSS 7.8) in Linux, published January 13, 2026. No source lists public exploit code. EPSS puts the chance of exploitation in the next 30 days at 0.16%, the 5th percentile. Fixed in kernel 5.14.0-687.12.1.el9_8.
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
iommu: disable SVA when CONFIG_X86 is set
Patch series "Fix stale IOTLB entries for kernel address space", v7.
This proposes a fix for a security vulnerability related to IOMMU Shared Virtual Addressing (SVA). In an SVA context, an IOMMU can cache kernel page table entries. When a kernel page table page is freed and reallocated for another purpose, the IOMMU might still hold stale, incorrect entries. This can be exploited to cause a use-after-free or write-after-free condition, potentially leading to privilege escalation or data corruption.
This solution introduces a deferred freeing mechanism for kernel page table pages, which provides a safe window to notify the IOMMU to invalidate its caches before the page is reused.
This patch (of 8):
In the IOMMU Shared Virtual Addressing (SVA) context, the IOMMU hardware shares and walks the CPU's page tables. The x86 architecture maps the kernel's virtual address space into the upper portion of every process's page table. Consequently, in an SVA context, the IOMMU hardware can walk and cache kernel page table entries.
The Linux kernel currently lacks a notification mechanism for kernel page table changes, specifically when page table pages are freed and reused. The IOMMU driver is only notified of changes to user virtual address mappings. This can cause the IOMMU's internal caches to retain stale entries for kernel VA.
Use-After-Free (UAF) and Write-After-Free (WAF) conditions arise when kernel page table pages are freed and later reallocated. The IOMMU could misinterpret the new data as valid page table entries. The IOMMU might then walk into attacker-controlled memory, leading to arbitrary physical memory DMA access or privilege escalation. This is also a Write-After-Free issue, as the IOMMU will potentially continue to write Accessed and Dirty bits to the freed memory while attempting to walk the stale page tables.
Currently, SVA contexts are unprivileged and cannot access kernel mappings. However, the IOMMU will still walk kernel-only page tables all the way down to the leaf entries, where it realizes the mapping is for the kernel and errors out. This means the IOMMU still caches these intermediate page table entries, making the described vulnerability a real concern.
Disable SVA on x86 architecture until the IOMMU can receive notification to flush the paging cache before freeing the CPU kernel page table pages.

kernel security update
The Linux Kernel, the operating system core itself.
Security Fix(es):
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
f2fs: fix to detect potential corrupted nid in free_nid_list
As reported, on-disk footer.ino and footer.nid is the same and out-of-range, let's add sanity check on f2fs_alloc_nid() to detect any potential corruption in free_nid_list.(CVE-2025-68315)
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
ntfs3: Fix uninit buffer allocated by __getname()
Fix uninit errors caused after buffer allocation given to 'de'; by initializing the buffer with zeroes. The fix was found by using KMSAN.(CVE-2025-68727)
In the Linux kernel, a security vulnerability exists in the IOMMU Shared Virtual Addressing (SVA) feature. On x86 architecture when CONFIG_X86 is set, IOMMU hardware caches kernel page table entries. Due to the lack of notification mechanism for kernel page table changes, when kernel page table pages are freed and reused, the IOMMU may retain stale entries, leading to Use-After-Free (UAF) and Write-After-Free (WAF) conditions. This can be exploited to cause arbitrary physical memory DMA access or privilege escalation.(CVE-2025-71089)
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
uacce: fix cdev handling in the cleanup path
When cdev_device_add fails, it internally releases the cdev memory, and if cdev_device_del is then executed, it will cause a hang error. To fix it, we check the return value of cdev_device_add() and clear uacce->cdev to avoid calling cdev_device_del in the uacce_remove.(CVE-2026-23096)
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
bonding: fix use-after-free due to enslave fail after slave array update
Fix a use-after-free which happens due to enslave failure after the new slave has been added to the array. Since the new slave can be used for Tx immediately, we can use it after it has been freed by the enslave error cleanup path which frees the allocated slave memory. Slave update array is supposed to be called last when further enslave failures are not expected. Move it after xdp setup to avoid any problems.
It is very easy to reproduce the problem with a simple xdp_pass prog: ip l add bond1 type bond mode balance-xor ip l set bond1 up ip l set dev bond1 xdp object xdp_pass.o sec xdp_pass ip l add dumdum type dummy
Then run in parallel: while :; do ip l set dumdum master bond1 1>/dev/null 2>&1; done; mausezahn bond1 -a own -b rand -A rand -B 1.1.1.1 -c 0 -t tcp "dp=1-1023, flags=syn"

kernel security update
The Linux Kernel, the operating system core itself.
Security Fix(es):
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
ipv6: add NULL checks for idev in SRv6 paths
__in6_dev_get() can return NULL when the device has no IPv6 configuration (e.g. MTU < IPV6_MIN_MTU or after NETDEV_UNREGISTER).
Add NULL checks for idev returned by __in6_dev_get() in both seg6_hmac_validate_skb() and ipv6_srh_rcv() to prevent potential NULL pointer dereferences.(CVE-2026-23442)
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
netfilter: conntrack: add missing netlink policy validations
Hyunwoo Kim reports out-of-bounds access in sctp and ctnetlink.
These attributes are used by the kernel without any validation. Extend the netlink policies accordingly.
Quoting the reporter: nlattr_to_sctp() assigns the user-supplied CTA_PROTOINFO_SCTP_STATE value directly to ct->proto.sctp.state without checking that it is within the valid range. [..]
and: ... with exp->dir = 100, the access at ct->master->tuplehash[100] reads 5600 bytes past the start of a 320-byte nf_conn object, causing a slab-out-of-bounds read confirmed by UBSAN.(CVE-2026-31407)
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
netfilter: ipset: drop logically empty buckets in mtype_del
mtype_del() counts empty slots below n->pos in k, but it only drops the bucket when both n->pos and k are zero. This misses buckets whose live entries have all been removed while n->pos still points past deleted slots.
Treat a bucket as empty when all positions below n->pos are unused and release it directly instead of shrinking it further.(CVE-2026-31418)
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
bridge: mrp: reject zero test interval to avoid OOM panic
br_mrp_start_test() and br_mrp_start_in_test() accept the user-supplied interval value from netlink without validation. When interval is 0, usecs_to_jiffies(0) yields 0, causing the delayed work (br_mrp_test_work_expired / br_mrp_in_test_work_expired) to reschedule itself with zero delay. This creates a tight loop on system_percpu_wq that allocates and transmits MRP test frames at maximum rate, exhausting all system memory and causing a kernel panic via OOM deadlock.
The same zero-interval issue applies to br_mrp_start_in_test_parse() for interconnect test frames.
Use NLA_POLICY_MIN(NLA_U32, 1) in the nla_policy tables for both IFLA_BRIDGE_MRP_START_TEST_INTERVAL and IFLA_BRIDGE_MRP_START_IN_TEST_INTERVAL, so zero is rejected at the netlink attribute parsing layer before the value ever reaches the workqueue scheduling code. This is consistent with how other bridge subsystems (br_fdb, br_mst) enforce range constraints on netlink attributes.(CVE-2026-31420)
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
net/sched: sch_hfsc: fix divide-by-zero in rtsc_min()
m2sm() converts a u32 slope to a u64 scaled value. For large inputs
(e.g. m1=4000000000), the result can reach 2^32. rtsc_min() stores
the difference of two such u64 values in a u32 variable dsm and
uses it as a divisor. When the difference is exactly 2^32 the
truncation yields zero, causing a divide-by-zero oops in the
concave-curve intersection path:
Oops: divide error: 0000 RIP: 0010:rtsc_min (net/sched/sch_hfsc.c:601) Call Trace: init_ed (net/sched/sch_hfsc.c:629) hfsc_enqueue…

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: iommu: disable SVA when CONFIG_X86 is set Patch series "Fix stale IOTLB entries for kernel address space", v7. This patch (of 8): In the IOMMU Shared Virtual Addressing (SVA) context, the IOMMU hardware shares and walks the CPU's page tables.

CVE-2025-71089 affecting package kernel for versions less than 6.6.121.1-1
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
iommu: disable SVA when CONFIG_X86 is set

Left out here: 1,419 package rows, 1,661 versions, 4,048 references and the rest of 12 source descriptions. The JSON record has them. Also not on the record: 40 aliases. ID and package lookups still check them. Left out on purpose, here and in the API, to keep responses small: 89 source records.
