Updated kernel packages fix security vulnerabilities
This update is based on upstream 5.5.14 and fixes at least the following security vulnerabilities:
In the Linux kernel 5.3.10, there is a use-after-free (read) in the perf_trace_lock_acquire function (related to include/trace/events/lock.h) (CVE-2019-19769).
Manfred Paul discovered that the bpf verifier in the Linux kernel did not properly calculate register bounds for certain operations. A local attacker could use this to expose sensitive information (kernel memory) or gain administrative privileges (CVE-2020-8835).
Security fixes and hardenings to the mac00211 layer to prevent leaking keys and frames.
Other notable changes in this update:
- WireGuard kernel module has been updated to v1.0.20200330 and the tools to v1.0.20200319.
- exfat-utils has been rebuilt in core (was previously in tainted) as we now also ship the official upstream exfat driver.
For other upstream fixes in this update, see the referenced changelogs.

Updated kernel-linus packages fix security vulnerabilities
This update is based on upstream 5.5.15 and fixes at least the following security vulnerabilities:
In the Linux kernel 5.4.0-rc2, there is a use-after-free (read) in the __blk_add_trace function in kernel/trace/blktrace.c (which is used to fill out a blk_io_trace structure and place it in a per-cpu sub-buffer) (CVE-2019-19768).
In the Linux kernel 5.3.10, there is a use-after-free (read) in the perf_trace_lock_acquire function (related to include/trace/events/lock.h) (CVE-2019-19769).
A flaw was found in the way KVM hypervisor handled instruction emulation for the L2 guest when nested(=1) virtualization is enabled. In the instruction emulation, the L2 guest could trick the L0 hypervisor into accessing sensitive bits of the L1 hypervisor. An L2 guest could use this flaw to potentially access information of the L1 hypervisor (CVE-2020-2732).
There is a use-after-free vulnerability in the Linux kernel through 5.5.2 in the vc_do_resize function in drivers/tty/vt/vt.c (CVE-2020-8647).
There is a use-after-free vulnerability in the Linux kernel through 5.5.2 in the n_tty_receive_buf_common function in drivers/tty/n_tty.c (CVE-2020-8648).
Manfred Paul discovered that the bpf verifier in the Linux kernel did not properly calculate register bounds for certain operations. A local attacker could use this to expose sensitive information (kernel memory) or gain administrative privileges (CVE-2020-8835).
There is a use-after-free vulnerability in the Linux kernel through 5.5.2 in the vgacon_invert_region function in drivers/video/console/vgacon.c. (CVE-2020-8649).
An issue was discovered in the Linux kernel through 5.5.6. set_fdc in drivers/block/floppy.c leads to a wait_til_ready out-of-bounds read because the FDC index is not checked for errors before assigning it, aka CID-2e90ca68b0d2 (CVE-2020-9383).
An issue was discovered in the Linux kernel 5.4 and 5.5 through 5.5.6 on the AArch64 architecture. It ignores the top byte in the address passed to the brk system call, potentially moving the memory break downwards when the application expects it to move upwards, aka CID- dcde237319e6. This has been observed to cause heap corruption with the GNU C Library malloc implementation (CVE-2020-9391).
Security fixes and hardenings to the mac00211 layer to prevent leaking keys and frames.
For other upstream fixes in this update, see the referenced changelogs.

Security update for the Linux Kernel
The SUSE Linux Enterprise 15 SP3 Azure kernel was updated to receive various security and bugfixes.
The following security bugs were fixed:
- CVE-2021-33200: Enforcing incorrect limits for pointer arithmetic operations by the BPF verifier could be abused to perform out-of-bounds reads and writes in kernel memory (bsc#1186484).
- CVE-2021-33034: Fixed a use-after-free when destroying an hci_chan. This could lead to writing an arbitrary values. (bsc#1186111)
- CVE-2020-26139: Fixed a denial-of-service when an Access Point (AP) forwards EAPOL frames to other clients even though the sender has not yet successfully authenticated to the AP. (bnc#1186062)
- CVE-2021-23134: A Use After Free vulnerability in nfc sockets allowed local attackers to elevate their privileges. (bnc#1186060)
- CVE-2021-3491: Fixed a potential heap overflow in mem_rw(). This vulnerability is related to the PROVIDE_BUFFERS operation, which allowed the MAX_RW_COUNT limit to be bypassed (bsc#1185642).
- CVE-2021-32399: Fixed a race condition when removing the HCI controller (bnc#1184611).
- CVE-2020-24586: The 802.11 standard that underpins Wi-Fi Protected Access (WPA, WPA2, and WPA3) and Wired Equivalent Privacy (WEP) doesn't require that received fragments be cleared from memory after (re)connecting to a network. Under the right circumstances this can be abused to inject arbitrary network packets and/or exfiltrate user data (bnc#1185859).
- CVE-2020-24587: The 802.11 standard that underpins Wi-Fi Protected Access (WPA, WPA2, and WPA3) and Wired Equivalent Privacy (WEP) doesn't require that all fragments of a frame are encrypted under the same key. An adversary can abuse this to decrypt selected fragments when another device sends fragmented frames and the WEP, CCMP, or GCMP encryption key is periodically renewed (bnc#1185859 bnc#1185862).
- CVE-2020-24588: The 802.11 standard that underpins Wi-Fi Protected Access (WPA, WPA2, and WPA3) and Wired Equivalent Privacy (WEP) doesn't require that the A-MSDU flag in the plaintext QoS header field is authenticated. Against devices that support receiving non-SSP A-MSDU frames (which is mandatory as part of 802.11n), an adversary can abuse this to inject arbitrary network packets. (bnc#1185861)
- CVE-2020-26147: The WEP, WPA, WPA2, and WPA3 implementations reassemble fragments, even though some of them were sent in plaintext. This vulnerability can be abused to inject packets and/or exfiltrate selected fragments when another device sends fragmented frames and the WEP, CCMP, or GCMP data-confidentiality protocol is used (bnc#1185859).
- CVE-2020-26145: An issue was discovered with Samsung Galaxy S3 i9305 4.4.4 devices. The WEP, WPA, WPA2, and WPA3 implementations accept second (or subsequent) broadcast fragments even when sent in plaintext and process them as full unfragmented frames. An adversary can abuse this to inject arbitrary network packets independent of the network configuration. (bnc#1185860)
- CVE-2020-26141: An issue was discovered in the ALFA driver for AWUS036H, where the Message Integrity Check (authenticity) of fragmented TKIP frames was not verified. An adversary can abuse this to inject and possibly decrypt packets in WPA or WPA2 networks that support the TKIP data-confidentiality protocol. (bnc#1185987)
- CVE-2021-29650: Fixed an issue with the netfilter subsystem that allowed attackers to cause a denial of service (panic) because net/netfilter/x_tables.c and include/linux/netfilter/x_tables.h lack a full memory barrier upon the assignment of a new table value (bnc#1184208).
- CVE-2021-29155: Fixed an issue that was discovered in kernel/bpf/verifier.c that performs undesirable out-of-bounds speculation on pointer arithmetic, leading to side-channel attacks that defeat Spectre mitigations and obtain sensitive information from kernel memory. Specifically, for sequences of pointer arithmetic operations, the pointer modification performed by the first operation was not correctly accounted for when…

Specifically, for sequences of pointer arithmetic operations, the pointer modification performed by the first operation was not correctly accounted for when restricting…

Tristan Madani discovered that the file locking implementation in the Linux kernel contained a race condition. A local attacker could possibly use this to cause a denial of service or expose sensitive information. (CVE-2019-19769)
It was discovered that the Serial CAN interface driver in the Linux kernel did not properly initialize data. A local attacker could use this to expose sensitive information (kernel memory). (CVE-2020-11494)
It was discovered that the linux kernel did not properly validate certain mount options to the tmpfs virtual memory file system. A local attacker with the ability to specify mount options could use this to cause a denial of service (system crash). (CVE-2020-11565)
It was discovered that the OV51x USB Camera device driver in the Linux kernel did not properly validate device metadata. A physically proximate attacker could use this to cause a denial of service (system crash). (CVE-2020-11608)
It was discovered that the STV06XX USB Camera device driver in the Linux kernel did not properly validate device metadata. A physically proximate attacker could use this to cause a denial of service (system crash). (CVE-2020-11609)
It was discovered that the Xirlink C-It USB Camera device driver in the Linux kernel did not properly validate device metadata. A physically proximate attacker could use this to cause a denial of service (system crash). (CVE-2020-11668)
David Gibson discovered that the Linux kernel on Power9 CPUs did not properly save and restore Authority Mask registers state in some situations. A local attacker in a guest VM could use this to cause a denial of service (host system crash). (CVE-2020-11669)
It was discovered that the block layer in the Linux kernel contained a race condition leading to a use-after-free vulnerability. A local attacker could possibly use this to cause a denial of service (system crash) or execute arbitrary code. (CVE-2020-12657)
