CVE-2025-38724
nfsd: handle get_client_locked() failure in nfsd4_setclientid_confirm()
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
nfsd: handle get_client_locked() failure in nfsd4_setclientid_confirm()
Lei Lu recently reported that nfsd4_setclientid_confirm() did not check the return value from get_client_locked(). a SETCLIENTID_CONFIRM could race with a confirmed client expiring and fail to get a reference. That could later lead to a UAF.
Fix this by getting a reference early in the case where there is an extant confirmed client. If that fails then treat it as if there were no confirmed client found at all.
In the case where the unconfirmed client is expiring, just fail and return the result from get_client_locked().

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
net/tls: fix kernel panic when alloc_page failed
We cannot set frag_list to NULL pointer when alloc_page failed. It will be used in tls_strp_check_queue_ok when the next time tls_strp_read_sock is called.
This is because we don't reset full_len in tls_strp_flush_anchor_copy() so the recv path will try to continue handling the partial record on the next call but we dettached the rcvq from the frag list. Alternative fix would be to reset full_len.
Unable to handle kernel NULL pointer dereference at virtual address 0000000000000028 Call trace: tls_strp_check_rcv+0x128/0x27c tls_strp_data_ready+0x34/0x44 tls_data_ready+0x3c/0x1f0 tcp_data_ready+0x9c/0xe4 tcp_data_queue+0xf6c/0x12d0 tcp_rcv_established+0x52c/0x798(CVE-2025-38018)
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
calipso: Don't call calipso functions for AF_INET sk.
syzkaller reported a null-ptr-deref in txopt_get(). [0]
The offset 0x70 was of struct ipv6_txoptions in struct ipv6_pinfo, so struct ipv6_pinfo was NULL there.
However, this never happens for IPv6 sockets as inet_sk(sk)->pinet6 is always set in inet6_create(), meaning the socket was not IPv6 one.
The root cause is missing validation in netlbl_conn_setattr().
netlbl_conn_setattr() switches branches based on struct sockaddr.sa_family, which is passed from userspace. However, netlbl_conn_setattr() does not check if the address family matches the socket.
The syzkaller must have called connect() for an IPv6 address on an IPv4 socket.
We have a proper validation in tcp_v[46]_connect(), but security_socket_connect() is called in the earlier stage.
Let's copy the validation to netlbl_conn_setattr().

kernel security update
The Linux Kernel, the operating system core itself.
Security Fix(es):
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
memory: of: Fix refcount leak bug in of_get_ddr_timings()
We should add the of_node_put() when breaking out of for_each_child_of_node() as it will automatically increase and decrease the refcount.(CVE-2022-50249)
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
drm/radeon: Add the missed acpi_put_table() to fix memory leak
When the radeon driver reads the bios information from ACPI table in radeon_acpi_vfct_bios(), it misses to call acpi_put_table() to release the ACPI memory after the init, so add acpi_put_table() properly to fix the memory leak.
v2: fix text formatting (Alex)(CVE-2022-50275)
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
wifi: rtlwifi: Fix global-out-of-bounds bug in _rtl8812ae_phy_set_txpower_limit()
There is a global-out-of-bounds reported by KASAN:
BUG: KASAN: global-out-of-bounds in _rtl8812ae_eq_n_byte.part.0+0x3d/0x84 [rtl8821ae] Read of size 1 at addr ffffffffa0773c43 by task NetworkManager/411
CPU: 6 PID: 411 Comm: NetworkManager Tainted: G D 6.1.0-rc8+ #144 e15588508517267d37 Hardware name: QEMU Standard PC (Q35 + ICH9, 2009), Call Trace: <TASK> ... kasan_report+0xbb/0x1c0 _rtl8812ae_eq_n_byte.part.0+0x3d/0x84 [rtl8821ae] rtl8821ae_phy_bb_config.cold+0x346/0x641 [rtl8821ae] rtl8821ae_hw_init+0x1f5e/0x79b0 [rtl8821ae] ... </TASK>
The root cause of the problem is that the comparison order of "prate_section" in _rtl8812ae_phy_set_txpower_limit() is wrong. The _rtl8812ae_eq_n_byte() is used to compare the first n bytes of the two strings from tail to head, which causes the problem. In the _rtl8812ae_phy_set_txpower_limit(), it was originally intended to meet this requirement by carefully designing the comparison order. For example, "pregulation" and "pbandwidth" are compared in order of length from small to large, first is 3 and last is 4. However, the comparison order of "prate_section" dose not obey such order requirement, therefore when "prate_section" is "HT", when comparing from tail to head, it will lead to access out of bounds in _rtl8812ae_eq_n_byte(). As mentioned above, the _rtl8812ae_eq_n_byte() has the same function as strcmp(), so just strcmp() is enough.
Fix it by removing _rtl8812ae_eq_n_byte() and use strcmp() barely. Although it can be fixed by adjusting the comparison order of "prate_section", this may cause the value of "rate_section" to not be from 0 to 5. In addition, commit "21e4b0726dc6" not only moved driver from staging to regular tree, but also added setting txpower limit function during the driver config phase, so the problem was introduced by this commit.(CVE-2022-50279)
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
wifi: ath9k: verify the expected usb_endpoints are present
The bug arises when a USB device claims to be an ATH9K but doesn't have the expected endpoints. (In this case there was an interrupt endpoint where the driver expected a bulk endpoint.) The kernel needs to be able to handle such devices without getting an internal error.

kernel security update
The Linux Kernel, the operating system core itself.
Security Fix(es):
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
ext4: fix potential out of bound read in ext4_fc_replay_scan()
For scan loop must ensure that at least EXT4_FC_TAG_BASE_LEN space. If remain space less than EXT4_FC_TAG_BASE_LEN which will lead to out of bound read when mounting corrupt file system image. ADD_RANGE/HEAD/TAIL is needed to add extra check when do journal scan, as this three tags will read data during scan, tag length couldn't less than data length which will read.(CVE-2022-50306)
A use-after-free vulnerability in the Linux kernel s netfilter: nf_tables component can be exploited to achieve local privilege escalation.Due to a race condition between nf_tables netlink control plane transaction and nft_set element garbage collection, it is possible to underflow the reference counter causing a use-after-free vulnerability.We recommend upgrading past commit 3e91b0ebd994635df2346353322ac51ce84ce6d8.(CVE-2023-4244)
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
HID: multitouch: Correct devm device reference for hidinput input_dev name
Reference the HID device rather than the input device for the devm allocation of the input_dev name. Referencing the input_dev would lead to a use-after-free when the input_dev was unregistered and subsequently fires a uevent that depends on the name. At the point of firing the uevent, the name would be freed by devres management.
Use devm_kasprintf to simplify the logic for allocating memory and formatting the input_dev name string.(CVE-2023-53454)
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
scsi: qla2xxx: Fix deletion race condition

We must ensure that the subrequests are joined back into the head before we can retransmit a request. If the head was not on the commit lists, because the server wrote it synchronously, we still need to add it back to the retransmission list. Add a call that mirrors the effect of nfs_cancel_remove_inode() for O_DIRECT.(CVE-2023-53711)
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: md: raid1: fix potential OOB in raid1_remove_disk(). If rddev->raid_disk is greater than mddev->raid_disks, there will be an out-of-bounds in raid1_remove_disk(). We have already found similar reports as follows: 1) commit d17f744e883b ("md-raid10: fix KASAN warning") 2) commit 1ebc2cec0b7d ("dm raid: fix KASAN warning in raid5_remove_disk"). Fix this bug by checking whether the "number" variable is valid.(CVE-2023-53722)

The loop has to terminate when the search wrapped around to thestarting point.But that s racy vs. establishing the starting point. That is read outlockless, which leads to the following problem:CPU0 CPU1posix_timer_add() start = sig->posix_timer_id; lock(hash_lock); ... posix_timer_add() if (++sig->posix_timer_id < 0) start = sig->posix_timer_id; sig->posix_timer_id = 0;So CPU1 can observe a negative start value, i.e. -1, and the loop breaknever happens because the condition can never be true: if (sig->posix_timer_id == start) break;While this is unlikely to ever turn into an endless loop as the ID space ishuge (INT_MAX), the racy read of the start value caught the attention ofKCSAN and Dmitry unearthed that incorrectness.Rewrite it so that all id operations are under the hash lock.(CVE-2023-53728)

Left out here: 1,631 package rows, 1,957 versions, 4,336 references and the rest of 13 source descriptions. The JSON record has them. Also not on the record: 12 aliases. ID and package lookups still check them. Left out on purpose, here and in the API, to keep responses small: 61 source records.
