Security Fix(es):

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:

md: Replace snprintf with scnprintf

Current code produces a warning as shown below when total characters in the constituent block device names plus the slashes exceeds 200. snprintf() returns the number of characters generated from the given input, which could cause the expression “200 – len” to wrap around to a large positive number. Fix this by using scnprintf() instead, which returns the actual number of characters written into the buffer.

nbd: Fix hung when signal interrupts nbd_start_device_ioctl()

syzbot reported hung task [1]. The following program is a simplified version of the reproducer:

int main(void) { int sv[2], fd;

if (socketpair(AF_UNIX, SOCK_STREAM, 0, sv) < 0)
	return 1;
if ((fd = open("/dev/nbd0", 0)) < 0)
	return 1;
if (ioctl(fd, NBD_SET_SIZE_BLOCKS, 0x81) < 0)
	return 1;
if (ioctl(fd, NBD_SET_SOCK, sv[0]) < 0)
	return 1;
if (ioctl(fd, NBD_DO_IT) < 0)
	return 1;
return 0;

}

When signal interrupt nbd_start_device_ioctl() waiting the condition atomic_read(&config->recv_threads) == 0, the task can hung because it waits the completion of the inflight IOs.

This patch fixes the issue by clearing queue, not just shutdown, when signal interrupt nbd_start_device_ioctl().(CVE-2022-50314)

When the network namespace is deleted, the net structureaccessed by tcp s timer handler function causes problems.To fix this problem, let s hold netns refcnt for the tcp kernel socket asdone in other modules. This is an ugly hack which can easily be backportedto earlier kernels. A proper fix which cleans up the interfaces willfollow, but may not be so easy to backport.(CVE-2024-53168)

kernel security update

The Linux Kernel, the operating system core itself.

Security Fix(es):

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:

pds_core: Prevent possible adminq overflow/stuck condition

The pds_core's adminq is protected by the adminq_lock, which prevents more than 1 command to be posted onto it at any one time. This makes it so the client drivers cannot simultaneously post adminq commands. However, the completions happen in a different context, which means multiple adminq commands can be posted sequentially and all waiting on completion.

On the FW side, the backing adminq request queue is only 16 entries long and the retry mechanism and/or overflow/stuck prevention is lacking. This can cause the adminq to get stuck, so commands are no longer processed and completions are no longer sent by the FW.

As an initial fix, prevent more than 16 outstanding adminq commands so there's no way to cause the adminq from getting stuck. This works because the backing adminq request queue will never have more than 16 pending adminq commands, so it will never overflow. This is done by reducing the adminq depth to 16.(CVE-2025-37987)

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:

regulator: core: fix NULL dereference on unbind due to stale coupling data

Failing to reset coupling_desc.n_coupled after freeing coupled_rdevs can lead to NULL pointer dereference when regulators are accessed post-unbind.

This can happen during runtime PM or other regulator operations that rely on coupling metadata.

For example, on ridesx4, unbinding the 'reg-dummy' platform device triggers a panic in regulator_lock_recursive() due to stale coupling state.

Ensure n_coupled is set to 0 to prevent access to invalid pointers.(CVE-2025-38668)

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:

drm/nouveau/nvif: Fix potential memory leak in nvif_vmm_ctor().

When the nvif_vmm_type is invalid, we will return error directly without freeing the args in nvif_vmm_ctor(), which leading a memory leak. Fix it by setting the ret -EINVAL and goto done.(CVE-2025-39679)

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:

serial: 8250: fix panic due to PSLVERR

When the PSLVERR_RESP_EN parameter is set to 1, the device generates an error response if an attempt is made to read an empty RBR (Receive Buffer Register) while the FIFO is enabled.

In serial8250_do_startup(), calling serial_port_out(port, UART_LCR, UART_LCR_WLEN8) triggers dw8250_check_lcr(), which invokes dw8250_force_idle() and serial8250_clear_and_reinit_fifos(). The latter function enables the FIFO via serial_out(p, UART_FCR, p->fcr). Execution proceeds to the serial_port_in(port, UART_RX). This satisfies the PSLVERR trigger condition.

When another CPU (e.g., using printk()) is accessing the UART (UART is busy), the current CPU fails the check (value & ~UART_LCR_SPAR) == (lcr & ~UART_LCR_SPAR) in dw8250_check_lcr(), causing it to enter dw8250_force_idle().

Put serial_port_out(port, UART_LCR, UART_LCR_WLEN8) under the port->lock to fix this issue.

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:

HID: multitouch: fix slab out-of-bounds access in mt_report_fixup()

A malicious HID device can trigger a slab out-of-bounds during mt_report_fixup() by passing in report descriptor smaller than 607 bytes. mt_report_fixup() attempts to patch byte offset 607 of the descriptor with 0x25 by first checking if byte offset 607 is 0x15 however it lacks bounds checks to verify if the descriptor is big enough before conducting this check. Fix this bug by ensuring the descriptor size is at least 608 bytes before accessing it.

Below is the KASAN splat after the out of bounds…

For scan loop must ensure that at least EXT4_FC_TAG_BASE_LEN space. If remain space less than EXT4_FC_TAG_BASE_LEN which will lead to out of bound read when mounting corrupt file system image. ADD_RANGE/HEAD/TAIL is needed to add extra check when do journal scan, as this three tags will read data during scan, tag length couldn't less than data length which will read.(CVE-2022-50306)

A use-after-free vulnerability in the Linux kernel s netfilter: nf_tables component can be exploited to achieve local privilege escalation.Due to a race condition between nf_tables netlink control plane transaction and nft_set element garbage collection, it is possible to underflow the reference counter causing a use-after-free vulnerability.We recommend upgrading past commit 3e91b0ebd994635df2346353322ac51ce84ce6d8.(CVE-2023-4244)

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:

HID: multitouch: Correct devm device reference for hidinput input_dev name

Reference the HID device rather than the input device for the devm allocation of the input_dev name. Referencing the input_dev would lead to a use-after-free when the input_dev was unregistered and subsequently fires a uevent that depends on the name. At the point of firing the uevent, the name would be freed by devres management.

Use devm_kasprintf to simplify the logic for allocating memory and formatting the input_dev name string.(CVE-2023-53454)
